My Top 5 Favorite Foundations

Are you still looking for the perfect foundation? I mean, who isn't?

I've tried a lot over the last few years and I can say that I've found my favorite brands for foundation that are not only safe and non-toxic, but also long lasting and great coverage.

Top 5 Foundations

1. Crunchi Beautifully Flawless Foundation $48.00

I chose Crunchi as my number one because it pretty much checks all the boxes. Natural, safe, amazing packaging, smells good, applies easily and quickly, covers medium to full coverage, lasts well, and has a decent price point. It's not the cheapest but it is affordable in my opinion, the bottle lasts a long time, although I don't wear foundation every single day, nor do I wear the same foundation every time I put makeup on, so for me they all last a long time ha.

You can get samples from the crunchi site or the Organic Bunny site. My main suggestion with crunchi is to play with it for a few weeks WITH their foundation brush. Learning to apply this foundation (or any) the right way, with the right tools, is KEY to getting the best out of the product. Crunchi applies best with their flat top brush, and the best way to apply it is by dabbing it all on all over your face, and then gently buffing it all out in circular motions. Organic bunny does the best application of this brand that I've seen. I will try to post a video of this and link it here in the future. So basically if you are going to buy this foundation make sure you invest in their brush as well.

I still use concealer over any breakouts or blemishes for added coverage. I use Hynt concealer most often. And then to set it all and make sure my makeup lasts for a long time, I use a light powder foundation like Jane Iredale with a fluffy powder brush, or I use Root Pretty's setting powder. Some days I don't always set it, but I've found that it stays in place better when you set it. Crunchi has a matte finish but is not drying. Great for all skin types.

2. Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation $62.00

This foundation is one of a kind. It has a lot of good ingredients in it so that's why it's really expensive, it is like skin care and makeup in one. I can't tell you if they markup the product a lot so I'm not sure if it's really overpriced. I am still on my first bottle but a little tiny bit goes a long ways, so I think it will last a long time, making the price not so bad. It covers medium to full coverage. Very build-able and natural looking. The owner of this brand is all about minimalism and skin looking natural. You can apply with your fingers, or use their foundation brush for a airbrushed look. I also use their brush with this because I found it to apply best. I even messed around with my crunchi brush and it did not look as good. So that just goes to show that you should always use the tool that the brand recommends to use for the best results.

I love that this is also in a glass bottle so it's totally non-toxic and will not have any plastics leaching into the product. I think this foundation is really good all alone, it dries almost like a powder. It's like an oil to powder consistency. But again I will use concealer or a little extra powder over any blemishes if I have any. This really is one of the best foundations I've ever used. It's just a little on the pricey side, and it doesn't smell good. I mean, it doesn't stink but to compare it to how crunchi smells really good when you first put it, you kinda miss that with other foundations. Great for any skin type.

You can get samples of Gressa on their site or even amazon to get the perfect color match.

3. Root Pretty Pearl Powder Loose Foundation $18.00

If you aren't into liquid foundations, or you just love a good deal, then this is the product for you! I love love love this foundation. It gives a more luminous finish and I love that look so I often wear this foundation more than the other ones. It can be applied light, medium, and full coverage. It all depends on how much you apply and with what tool. You can even mix it with water and create a liquid foundation and apply with a beauty blender sponge. I haven't used a sponge yet but I've found that my Gressa brush applies this the best for me for a medium to full coverage look.

Most powder foundations that are truly clean I haven't found to be full coverage, but this one is! And you cannot beat the price. You can get samples on their site as well to find your perfect match. Great for any skin type.

4. W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation $28.99

Another great priced foundation. This is also a totally clean product. The reason I like this foundation is because it is super compact great for traveling or just someone not into having tons of makeup items. It applies well with fingers and goes on super quick. It's more dewy, I like dewy finishes. I do have to set this with a light powder to keep it in place and to make it last longer. I like wearing this foundation on days I'm in a hurry or just not wanting to look like I have makeup on because it looks very natural and dewy. Just dusting it with a little bit of powder makes it last better for me.

I would say this is more of a light to medium coverage. If you need to cover blemishes use concealer or more powder over. Great for dry to normal or combo skin types.

5. Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream. $48.00

This one is not pictured. I don't actually use this product right now. I have used it in the past and I didn't work well for my skin type. I wanted to mention it because this is a great full coverage foundation (yes I know they call it a bb cream but its really like foundation). So many girls rave about this product, that's why I tried it once. It is best for oily or combo skin types. I have dryer skin so It just didn't work well for me. It's very thick, but once you get the hang of how to apply it best for your skin, it could really be your favorite if you have oily skin and want full coverage! I don't want to say that other skin types can't use this product, it just wasn't for me. I suggest requesting a sample from Jane Iredale before you buy.

There you have it! My top 5 picks for the best green beauty foundations.

I do want to say that I haven't tried all the foundations on the market for green beauty, and there are some brands I have tried and do like that I'm not listing on my top 5 at this time. Some other great brands to look into would be Antonym Cosmetics, Vapour Beauty, Elate Cosmetics, Fitglow Beauty.

If you want to try one or ALL of these foundations, email the brand and ask for samples if they don't already offer them on their site. Most of them do, so it's easy to try them and find your favorites!

I hope this helps you find your favorite makeup that won't risk your health in the process!
