Activ Whey Goat Protein

Updated: Dec 3, 2018

I've tried so many different brands of protein that I've honestly lost count. I have tried cow's whey (many years ago before I knew I was allergic to it), hemp protein, chia protein, pea protein, rice, bone broth, collagen, and now goat whey. Those are just the kinds of protein powders I've used, I won't get into every single brand I've ever tried because that would take forever. The reason I've tried a lot of different protein powders is because I have always been on the search for the best one. The one that is healthy and free of harmful ingredients, yet also tasty and easy to add into dishes with different flavors.

Supplementing my diet with protein is a daily thing for me. The knowledge I've gained over the last 7 years about nutrition and health, I've learned that protein is one of the most important parts of our diets. For sake of time, I'll save all of the benefits of protein for another post, but I will say that it doesn't matter if you work out, are young or old, sick or well, vegan or paleo, adding protein powders to your diet is a great idea! It's an easy and quick way to consume higher amounts of healthy proteins we so desperately need for our bodies to function at their best.

I workout and weight lift 5 days a week so finding a clean protein that has BCAAs (branched chain amino acids) is a must for me to build and maintain lean muscle. I can't use whey protein from cow's because it causes a lot of problems for me including swollen tonsils and lymph nodes, stomach bloat and digestive issues. So for the last 7 years I've been using plant based protein and within the last 2 years I have used bone broth protein and collagen.

I came across Elite Fuel on the internet a few months ago and read up on their products and looked at ingredients. I knew I had to try some products just based off of their ingredient lists! All of their products are extremely pure and clean. No fillers, artificial ingredients, gums, folic acid, dyes or preservatives.

Elite Fuel's protein called Activ Whey is made from pure grass-fed goat's whey. I'm from Washington State and still have a house there (even though I reside in North Dakota currently) so I was excited to learn that the goats are raised in Washington, and that Elite Fuel is also a Washington company. I just like using local brands ya know!

I reached out to them and they sent me some goat whey protein to try out. After I tried the packs they sent I quickly ordered a full size tub of the Vanilla Goat Whey Protein. With literally only 3 ingredients on the list and a good taste and texture, it doesn't get any better than this.

I tried the vanilla and the chocolate flavors and really liked both. When you look at ingredients on most protein brands they are filled with gums, artificial flavors, corn, sugar, and stabilizers. None of that is in activ whey or any elite fuel products. Plant based proteins are well known to contain high amounts of heavy metals. Even if you're using a clean, organic brand there will still be some heavy metals because of the soil the veggies or grains are grown in. Now this doesn't mean you have to avoid all plant based protein, but definitely read up on the third party testing results on the brand you're using. This is just another reason why I love goat whey protein from Activ whey.

It's safe for kids, great to use in smoothies, alone as a quick protein shake with water or milk, or even added into oatmeal or baked goods.

There are other proteins I like and still use, but when it comes to any whey protein Activ Whey is where it's at for me. I mostly use this post workout to get those BCAAs I need :)
